- The right anesthesia code for the procedure, using the ASA crosswalk
- Exact start and stop times, so time units are right
- Physical status from the record, for payers that pay for it
- Qualifying circumstances such as extreme age or emergency
- Staffing modifiers that match who did what
- Separately billable procedures such as lines and blocks, where documentation supports them
We code what's documented
We won't add anything the record doesn't support. When the record is unclear, we ask. When we see the same gap again and again, we'll tell you and suggest a simple fix to your charting. Our documentation tips cover the most common ones.
Coding only, or full billing
Most groups have us handle everything. If you already have billing staff and just need anesthesia coding done well, talk to us about a coding-only arrangement.
