Running a practice

The software an anesthesia practice needs

You don't need much. But the few systems you do use need to talk to each other.

The basics

  • Anesthesia record. Electronic or paper. The facility may provide one.
  • Billing system. Where claims are built, sent and tracked. Your biller usually provides it.
  • Clearinghouse. Sends claims to payers and brings back remittances.
  • Scheduling. Who's where, every day.
  • Credentialing tracker. Licence, certification and enrollment dates.

What matters most

Getting anesthesia records from facilities into billing quickly and completely. That's where cases get lost. Ask your biller how they do it.

This article is general information, not billing, legal or tax advice. Payer rules change; always check current guidance.
