For billing owners

Who buys medical billing companies?

Different buyers want different things. Knowing who's on the other side of the table helps you pick the right one.

Larger billing companies

Regional or national billing firms buy smaller books to grow. They often have the systems and staff to absorb your clients, but your clients may become a small account in a big company.

Private equity-backed groups

Many of the biggest billing companies are owned by private equity firms that buy smaller billers regularly. They may pay well, but deals can be more complex and the business may change hands again later.

Specialist buyers

Companies that focus on one specialty, like anesthesia, tend to value a book in that specialty and keep the service level your clients are used to. That's the kind of buyer we are.

Your own employees

If someone on your team wants to take over, that can be the smoothest handover of all. It usually means you get paid over time from the business's earnings.

Questions to ask any buyer

  • What happens to my clients, my staff and my processes?
  • How much is paid at closing, and how much depends on clients staying?
  • Do you work in my clients' specialty today?
  • Can I speak to someone who sold to you before?

We're a newer company, so we'll be upfront about that, and about exactly how we'd look after your clients. Email partners@titraterevenue.com.

This is general information, not legal, tax or valuation advice. Talk to your own lawyer and accountant before you sell.

Our promise to sellers

How we'll treat you and your clients

  • We sign an NDA before you share client names or numbers.
  • Your clients hear about it from you and us together, after signing. Never before.
  • Every term, including how and when you're paid, is written out in plain English before you sign.
  • Your clients' fees don't go up for at least 12 months after the handover.
  • If you're selling only your anesthesia accounts, we won't approach your other clients. We'll put that in writing.
  • If we're not the right buyer, we'll tell you quickly and point you somewhere better if we can.
