Choosing a biller

How to switch billing companies without losing money

Switching feels risky because it is, if it's done badly. Here's how to do it safely.

Before you give notice

  • Read your current contract for notice periods and what happens to unpaid claims
  • Get copies of your reports, especially the aging of unpaid claims
  • Make sure payments go to your own bank account, not your biller's

Plan the handover

Agree a start date for new claims with your new biller. Decide who works the old unpaid claims: the old biller until a set date, or the new one.

Run in parallel

For a few weeks, the new biller handles new cases while old claims finish. Watch your weekly deposits closely.

Get your data

You own your data. Ask for a full export of claims, payments and denials before the old contract ends.
